Formula

Employer-funded total adds base salary, guaranteed bonus, employer retirement contribution and entered benefit value. Adjusted annual value subtracts annual commute cost. Effective hourly value divides that result by modeled work and commute hours after paid leave.

Interpretation

The higher salary is not always the higher-value offer.

Guaranteed bonuses, employer contributions, valuable benefits, commute expense, working hours and paid leave can change the comparison. Keep uncertain bonuses out of the guaranteed field.

Beyond the model

Value depends on access and certainty.

A retirement contribution may vest over time. Health coverage may have deductibles or exclusions. Equity and performance bonuses may be uncertain. Verify offer documents before assigning value.
